Y-West Fitness Centre offers a wide range of health and fitness programs for all ages and abilities in a family friendly environment.
Programs
Les Mills RPM - RPM® is an indoor cycling class and cardiovascular training programme that provides fitness enthusiasts with a variety of applications. Professional coaching for 45 minutes helps you match terrain with tempo and all the energy of a small rock concert. RPM® is an awesome workout for improving your aerobic capacity and anaerobic strength.- Les Mills Body Pump - BODYPUMP® Workout begins using a programme-specific warm-up with the barbell and light weight, the session progresses through a total body workout starting with the legs and moving up to the chest, abdominals, arms and shoulders.
- Les Mills Step - BODYSTEP® programme is designed so that you can work at you own intensity level. While lots of women enjoy the great toning benefits of BODYSTEP®, it's also enjoyed by men, particularly those who are not able to do high impact activities.
- Fitbox - Fantastic 60 minute cardio workout with focus on Boxing, abdominal/muscular strength and burning fat. Boxing is one of the best cardiovascular workouts and is great for stress relief. Participants are both male and female, of all ages and no experience is needed as correct technique is taught by our instructors.
- Thump boxing - Thump Boxing for fitness is a group fitness class that is structured to give YOU a more enjoyable workout with minimising the risk of injury and all the benefits of a maximum workout. CORRECT boxing training not only works all parts of the body but also all aspects of fitness such as; Cardiovascular fitness, Muscular endurance, Muscular strength, Stamina, Co-ordination, and power.
Boot Camp YMCA is a program designed to challenge your body and your mind. It caters for all fitness levels from the beginner through to advanced. Sessions are run early in the morning for one hour, three times per week, for a 4 week period, come hell or high water- Happy Mums Club - The ‘Happy Mums Club’ is a group personal training program that provides mothers in similar circumstances with the opportunity to meet and exercise whilst their children are cared for by our experienced childcare team.
- Weight Loss for women - Our Weight Loss for women program brings together a proven formula for effective weight loss and lifestyle change. This program is not just about losing weight, it’s about changing your life into something healthier in 12 weeks and keeping the change. With ongoing support from our highly skilled personal trainers you will learn to create new healthy habits for better living and a slimmer waistline.
- Men with guts - Our formula for waist loss is a 60 minute group sessions, 2 times per week for 12 weeks. Regain the energy and confidence to live the way you want
- Teen Fitness program - Through our teen fitness program, we teach and train teenagers 12-16 years that leading an active, healthier lifestyle now, will enable them to deal with the pressures that go with being a teenager.
- Premium Group - This program provides a long term solution for weight loss, general overall health and wellbeing with ongoing support and motivation through our personal trainers and work outs with an encouraging group.
Whatever your health and fitness goal, One-on-One personal training will get you there quicker and more efficiently than if you train on your own. With the knowledge and support of your qualified YMCA trainer, your sessions will be time efficient, results focused and have you working at the intensity to make every second of your session count.
YMCA offer a range of gymnastics classes for children from the age of 15 months. Our programs encourage children to participate in a safe and structured environment, and offers age and skill based progression from Kinder gym through to competitive national levels classes. The class levels are as follows:
- Gym Bubs- for 15 - 24 months
- Gym Tots - for 2 - 3 years old
- Mini Gym - for 4 - 5 years old
- Gym Kidz - for 5 year old pre-schoolers and prep year students
- Junior Gym - for 5 – 7 year olds
- Mens and Womens artistic national levels gymnastics
Y-West have 2 squash courts available to hire. The cost of hiring the court depends on the time of the booking, on-peak and off-peak rates apply. Squash racquets and balls are also available for hire at reception.
At Y-West we offer 2 junior sports
- Indoor Soccer - a 1 hour lesson that aims to teach the children the fundamental skills of indoor soccer, whilst fostering creativity and enjoyment of the sport.
- Judo - The first few lessons are designed to be basic introduction classes where the children will learn how to fall safely, and learn basic rolls and tumbles, throws and other exercises. As the term progresses, children advance through a syllabus specially designed for their age.
Y-West Fitness centre offers the following childcare options
- Vacation Care - for ages 5 - 12 years. Government rebates available
- Kids Club - our casual childminding service that is provided to children from 6 weeks of age, whose parents choose to use the YMCA gym facilities.
- Limited Hours Care - the ideal pre-kindy program for children aged 2 and 1/2 - 5 years
- Playschool - children aged 14 months to preschool are catered for in an environment set up to stimulate their minds.
