The Job
YMCA gymnastics instructors are an essential component in the delivery of YMCA Gymnastics programs and services. Gymnastic Instructors are required to maintain thorough knowledge and understanding of all aspect of YMCA gymnastic programs, educational trends and industry development. These positions require energetic and motivated people who are not afraid to use their own ideas and initiative within a gymnastics class environment.
Essential
- First Aid & CPR (or willingness to obtain same)
- Blue card for working with children (or willingness to obtain same)
- Kindergym and/or Gymnastics Levels qualifications (or willingness to obtain same)
- Sound communication skills (oral and written) and an eye for detail
Desirable
- Experience working in a similar role and/or
- Experience working with groups of children from 24 months to 18 years of age

Gymnastics Head Coach / Coordinator
The Redlands YMCA Sports, Aquatic and Community Centre based in Victoria Point, offers a range of facilities and programs including group fitness, personal training, aquatics, gymnastics, indoor sports and childcare services.
The Opportunity
The YMCA is looking for a unique, passionate and dedicated Head Coach/Coordinator (either part time or casual) to drive an already thriving gymnastics program based in Victoria Point. With major upgrades to facilities due in 2012, this is your chance to establish and drive a large scale competitive gymnastics program. Reporting to the Program Manager, weekly hours will be up to 30 hours per week during term periods, depending on experience and qualifications in coaching. Key responsibilities of the position will include coordination of the YMCA Redlands Gymnastics Program including:
- Coaching gymnastics classes as required;
- Ensuring all staff are suitably qualified, trained and competent in their roles;
- In conjunction with the Program Manager, identifying ways to improve the gymnastics program;
- In conjunction with the Program Manager, identifying gymnastics marketing and promotional strategies;
- Developing competitive gymnastics programs;
- Staff rostering, holding staff meetings and undertaking staff performance appraisals as required;
- Developing and mentoring coaches as required and promoting a team environment;
- Completing administrative tasks associated with running the gymnastics program with the assistance of an administration support team;
- Monitoring classes and class numbers to ensure continued growth of the program.
The Person
To be successful in the role you will have the following experience and qualifications:
- Level 1 or higher coaching qualification;
- Extensive WAG and MAG experience;
- Working with children check (Blue Card);
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in a coaching role;
- Current First Aid / CPR Certificates;
- Excellent communication and customer service skills;
- Excellent time management, organisational, administrative and computer skills;

- Minimum of Certificate III in Fitness and registration with Fitness Australia

Job Placement / Engagement Officer

Engagement Officer within our Y-Care vocational training team. This is a
great opportunity for a professional individual with a high level of
interpersonal communication and organizational skills who has experience in
engagement of students through case management along with achieving job outcome
targets for students upon course completion. Essential to the role is the
ability to demonstrate efficient and effective strategies to positively assist
clients back into the workforce.
Key responsibilities of the position
will include:
• Engaging students through completion of case management
action plans and identifying barriers to employment;
• Liaising with trainers
to ensure engagement, attendance and student practical placements for the each
course;
• Creating networks with stakeholders in order to ensure job
placements during course and employment opportunities post course;
•
Conducting job preparation activities with students;
• Conducting practical
visits during job placements to assess engagement, attendance, skills and
ability;
• Ensure administrative duties and reporting is completed in
accordance with requirements.
The Person
To be successful in
the role you will have the following experience, qualifications and
attributes:
• A minimum of three years’ experience in a similar role.
•
Certificate IV in Training and Assessment is preferred or willingness to obtain
same.
• Qualifications/experience in Children’s Services would be
advantageous.
• Certificate of Suitability (Blue Card).
• Sound computer
skills including the ability to manage information through databases.
•
Excellent problem solving and negotiating skills.
• An understanding of the
barriers that affect unemployment.
• Ability to build relationships with
stakeholders of all levels.
• Be a flexible, outcome focused individual that
possesses a can-do attitude.
