School Principal

PRINCIPAL Required for Independent School

A Principal is required for a new Independent School commencing third term 2010. The YMCA Vocational School is a Special Assistance School located in Kingston, Logan City. The Principal is responsible for developing, recommending and implementing strategies, policies and practices that complement and are consistent with Y-Care (SEQ) Inc, YMCA and Educational Authority requirements

The Principal will be able to teach in a variety of key subject areas if required, that will ensure the effective and efficient operation of the YMCA Vocational School. The success of the position depends on the ability of the Principal to provide leadership, mentoring and supervision in a flexible education environment that provides education and support services to marginalised young men and women completing years 8 – 12.

  1. A Registered teacher with the Queensland College of Teachers, and possession of a positive notice Blue Card
  2. Demonstrated teaching competence and capacity to provide curriculum leadership leading to the achievement of quality learning outcomes for all students.

Mechanical Trainer

Y-Care (South East Queensland)Inc requires a person with suitable experience and qualification in the automotive industry to deliver  Certificate I and II in Automotive.

The successful applicant will work from a YMCA facility in Slacks Creek, Logan City.

The applicant will have the following requirements:

  1. Trade Qualification as a Mechanic, a minimum of 3 to 5 years industry experience
  2. Completion of Certificate IV in Workplace Training and Assessment (BSZ 40198 or equivalent) or willing to complete within six months or employment.
  3. Demonstrated experience or a strong desire in delivering training and pre-vocational programs
  4. Understanding of young people and youth issues
  5. Understanding of and ability to apply Occupational Health and Safety principles
  6. Good communication skills
  7. Ability to work with minimal supervision with a strong work ethic
  8. An understanding and commitment to maintaining the confidentiality of participants and staff of the organisation
  9. Ability to work effectively within a team
  10. Capability to act as a positive role model for participants
  11. Current Senior First Aid and CPR Certificate or willing to complete within six months or employment.
  12. Current Certificate of Suitability in accordance with the Commission for Children and Young People Act 2000 or in the process of attaining one
  13. Knowledge of how to work in a culturally sensitive manner
