Job Placement / Engagement Officer

The Opportunity
Due to growth, we now have an exciting opportunity for a full time Job Placement / Engagement Officer within our Y-Care vocational training team. This is a great opportunity for a professional individual with a high level of interpersonal communication and organizational skills who has experience in engagement of students through case management along with achieving job outcome targets for students upon course completion. Essential to the role is the ability to demonstrate efficient and effective strategies to positively assist clients back into the workforce.

Key responsibilities of the position will include:
• Engaging students through completion of case management action plans and identifying barriers to employment;
• Liaising with trainers to ensure engagement, attendance and student practical placements for the each course;
• Creating networks with stakeholders in order to ensure job placements during course and employment opportunities post course;
• Conducting job preparation activities with students;
• Conducting practical visits during job placements to assess engagement, attendance, skills and ability;
• Ensure administrative duties and reporting is completed in accordance with requirements.

The Person
To be successful in the role you will have the following experience, qualifications and attributes:
• A minimum of three years’ experience in a similar role.
• Certificate IV in Training and Assessment is preferred or willingness to obtain same.
• Qualifications/experience in Children’s Services would be advantageous.
• Certificate of Suitability (Blue Card).
• Sound computer skills including the ability to manage information through databases.
• Excellent problem solving and negotiating skills.
• An understanding of the barriers that affect unemployment.
• Ability to build relationships with stakeholders of all levels.
• Be a flexible, outcome focused individual that possesses a can-do attitude.

Fitness Manager

The Redlands YMCA Sports, Aquatic and Community Centre based in Victoria Point is a long serving, multi-purpose centre with programs and services catering to all ages and skill levels including personal training, group fitness, general fitness, learn to swim, recreation swimming, vacation care, indoor sports, gymnastics and much more! The Redlands YMCA is about to undergo a million dollar upgrade and will require the services of a leading fitness manager keen to be part of establishing what will be the Bayside’s premier health club.

The Opportunity

The YMCA is currently on the hunt for the best of the best! In this newly created full time position, the Fitness Manager will be responsible for managing Redlands YMCA’s fitness membership, overseeing group fitness, personal training, new memberships and ensuring that the existing membership base is being serviced. The applicant must be energetic and motivated with a true passion for fitness and customer service. This position will be heavily involved in developing reports from our software program and ensuring that members are being regularly contacted to assist in reaching their goals. YMCA is seeking someone with an eye for detail that can bring fresh ideas and make a personal impact at the centre. The role will also require the fitness manager to lead by example and regularly deliver personal & group training sessions.


Key responsibilities of the position will include:

  • Managing, mentoring and motivating fitness staff with a special focus on managing group fitness
  • The growth of the personal training program is a key component of this role.
  • Staff recruitment, training and development
  • Oversee the growth and success of the fitness programs
  • Managing day-by-day operations of the gym floor
  • Ensuring gym equipment is maintained to an excellent standard
  • Working within budgets including reporting and monitoring
  • Overseeing member management, membership sales and implementing strategies for member retention
  • Assisting the Centre Manager in the development of marketing and promotional strategies


The Person
To be successful in the role you will have the following experience and qualifications:

  • Experienced Personal Trainer and/or qualified group fitness instructor
  • Minimum of Cert IV in Fitness and Personal Training
  • Experience delivering and managing personal training programs is essential.
  • Minimum of 2 years supervisory experience within the industry
  • Experience with setting and meeting performance targets and motivating staff
  • Proven ability to propose, implement and follow through with ideas
  • Excellent understanding and demonstrated experience delivering excellent customer service
  • Experience setting and achieving targets
  • Blue Card – working with Children or ability to obtain same
  • First Aid and CPR

Running the entire operations of the gym floor as well as managing the fitness team requires the successful candidate to be extremely good at multi-tasking and time management. Learn to Swim Instructors

The Acacia Ridge Leisure Centre offers a wide range of quality programs and facilities including learn to swim, recreational swimming, gymnastics, indoor soccer and much more.

We are now looking to expand our program in 2012 and require energetic, dedicated and reliable team members to join us as casual Learn to Swim Instructors!

LEARN TO SWIM INSTRUCTORS

YMCA Learn to Swim Instructors are an essential component in the delivery of YMCA aquatic education programs and services. Learn to Swim Instructors are required to maintain thorough knowledge and understanding of all aspects of YMCA aquatic programs, educational trends and industry development. These positions require energetic, motivated persons who are professional and dedicated to Aquatic Education delivery.

The Role
As a YMCA Learn to Swim Instructor you will commit to:

  • The delivery of safe, effective and professional lessons;
  • Maintaining a comprehensive knowledge of teaching swimming and water safety;
  • Ensuring that they are available to undertake every allocated class for a minimum of a swimming block;
  • Delivering the highest level of service to all Learn to Swim members and their families;
  • Displaying interest, enthusiasm, patience, respect and innovation to students and peers;
  • Constructing and implementing class plans for every class that promotes group teaching methods combined with water safety;
  • Structuring and designs classes with appropriate activities that enhance student interaction and collaboration;
  • Learn to Swim Instructors may from time to time be required to perform other duties as required by Centre Management. In the event these duties require further training, this training will be made available.


Hours will be Monday, Wednesday and Saturday mornings and Monday and Wednesday after school hours.


The Person
To be successful in the role you will have the following minimum qualifications and experience:

  • Aus Swim Teacher qualifications;
  • Aus Swim Infants Teaching qualifications;
  • Current First Aid and CPR qualifications;
  • Experience in a similar role;
  • Certificate of Suitability from the Commission for Children and Young People (Blue Card);
  • Current RLSS Pool Lifeguard Certificate (Desirable).
