Job Placement / Engagement Officer
The YMCA is one of Brisbane’s most recognisable

services including childcare, health and fitness, education and training,
outdoor education and camping, accommodation and hospitality along with
benevolent activities which include the YMCA Vocational School, the School
Breakfast program and youth mentoring.
The Opportunity
Due to
growth, we now have an exciting opportunity for a full time Job Placement /
Engagement Officer within our Y-Care vocational training team. This is a
great opportunity for a professional individual with a high level of
interpersonal communication and organizational skills who has experience in
engagement of students through case management along with achieving job outcome
targets for students upon course completion. Essential to the role is the
ability to demonstrate efficient and effective strategies to positively assist
clients back into the workforce.
Key responsibilities of the position
will include:
• Engaging students through completion of case management
action plans and identifying barriers to employment;
• Liaising with trainers
to ensure engagement, attendance and student practical placements for the each
course;
• Creating networks with stakeholders in order to ensure job
placements during course and employment opportunities post course;
•
Conducting job preparation activities with students;
• Conducting practical
visits during job placements to assess engagement, attendance, skills and
ability;
• Ensure administrative duties and reporting is completed in
accordance with requirements.
The Person
To be successful in
the role you will have the following experience, qualifications and
attributes:
• A minimum of three years’ experience in a similar role.
•
Certificate IV in Training and Assessment is preferred or willingness to obtain
same.
• Qualifications/experience in Children’s Services would be
advantageous.
• Certificate of Suitability (Blue Card).
• Sound computer
skills including the ability to manage information through databases.
•
Excellent problem solving and negotiating skills.
• An understanding of the
barriers that affect unemployment.
• Ability to build relationships with
stakeholders of all levels.
• Be a flexible, outcome focused individual that
possesses a can-do attitude.
